Climbing ladder to the Top

It is a fact that many of us get stuck in mid-management roles in our corporate lives. The transition from mid to top management comes with lots of challenges and needs to be looked at a broader perspective.

In mid-management we usually deal directly with our team members, product owners and product vendors to deliver the results expected. We are mostly hands-on and less involved in strategic thinking. In other words, it is Business as Usual (BAU) activities that we are involved day in and day out. However, for top management roles we need to develop an outside-in perspective where we understand long term vision for the product/solution being delivered, impact on customers, our competitors strategy and envision the growth trajectory for a specific product/solution for the market outside. Also, most important paradigm of customer experience and how users will adopt our product/solution needs to be looked at.

Top Management in short looks at more of strategy and planning that has long term implications and growth potential. This requires us to broaden our approach to looking at 360-degree perspective not only from a program delivery success standpoint but understanding overall customer retention and growth strategies and what kind of programs or initiatives will help drive that long term relationship.

It takes tremendous amount of effort to transition from mid management to top management and it would help understanding the domain/market/technology/customer matrix landscape by learning from different forums, domain gurus and big tech players that can provide us insights into dealing with thought leaders, marketing team and technology geeks within and outside your organization to enable that change for a better future.

Wish you top notch growth!! 😊
