Leadership post the Pandemic

To succeed in the post-Covid era, being a leader needs new skills and capabilities and proficiency across a wide set of characteristics. For example as a leader you must learn how to work together with others who have different backgrounds and different ways of thinking, and focus on collaborating together to succeed despite all the differences

As a leader/manager you must have a strategic orientation, balancing vision with execution. In other words as a leader you need to understand how value can be created in the future in ways that are different from today’s, and stake out a powerful position for your company/team.

Second, you must have an open mind set, willing to make bold decisions while being great listener and foster inclusivity. For example you need to be willing to learn from others who may have less leadership tenure, but more relevant insights. Also youneed to be highly inclusive and great listeners to understand not only new technologies, but also new ways of doing things that are different from how they were done before.

Third, you must transform into tech-savvy digitalists, adopting new technologies and open to learning new tools. In particular you need to understand how technology impacts people’s lives and you need to help users/customers adopt the many changes that technology will enforce in the future.

Fourth, you must embrace innovation and making it part of your work culture. You need to have the courage to fail and allow others to fail as well. All this experimentation and innovation, however, must not be unbound — it must happen within the framework consistent with the company’s purpose.

Happy Learning!!
