The most fascinating psychology lessons one can get is watching your Body language. So what exactly is Body language and how does it affect your brand image?

If you Google it you can see multiple definitions for Body Language available. In simple terms, all Non-verbal communication in which we use physical behavior to convey a message like facial expressions, body posture, eye movement, touch etc… comes under the purview of Body language. The body language you exhibit is always contextual depending on the audience / person you interact with and the frame of mind you have.

Have you realized that when you are low on self-confidence and feel low you sub consciously tend to squeeze yourself smaller and avoid eye contact. In addition, when we talk to someone much powerful in hierarchy we tend to become small. On the contrary, when you are confident and positive you expand yourself more and occupy the conversation/room and posture with chin up.

From a human psychology perspective, our body changes with our mind and the way we feel about ourselves.

Research shows that our non-verbals govern how we think and feel about ourselves. So when we have right body language it shows in the way we can successfully handle a situation or problem.

Next time when you head to a job interview, try some power poses in front of the mirror. Typically, in an interview when there are multiple people with same qualifications and experience applying for the job the person who makes his/her presence felt the most who ends up getting the job. In other words, a person who exhibits confidence, passion, enthusiasm, authenticity etc… non-verbally will end up grabbing the job.
